Hatching Day

I was hatched on this fine day 28 years ago.

A big hearty thanks to Fernando's mom for making me an omelette this morning in celebration! I can't believe she kept all those sailors waiting...

Check out the new suit she got me!

Corporate Dorkiness != Rock 'n' Roll

Oh dear lord. Following in the long line of cool places being taken over by, and much worse, renamed, by geeky corporations, Columbus Ohio's premier rock venue The PromoWest Pavillion just got renamed by it's new owners to The Lifestyle Communities Pavillion. I don't think I can ever go to another rock show there again. We all know it's been happening for a while, but the sad thing is that it's moved from the super-large stadiums slowly down to the smaller ones. And for what gain? I fear soon even clubs like CBGB's will be taken over and renamed to the "Vidal Sassoon Rock Club" or something stupid like that.

In the words of dear Banjo, "This town is like school on Saturday, Otis. NO CLASS!!"

Also, Fernando, apparently your mother was bought out by some company called "Sailors Wanted" since that's what the sign above her door reads.

Totally Airwolf

From my good friend and cultural terrorist Dara:

"So there's a movement out there to use the title of that classic 80s TV show (about a super helicopter) as an adjective akin to Awesome, Rad, and Boss. I wholeheartedly support this grassroots initiative. Please feel free to use the attached graphics in the appropriate situations."

Fernando, your mom is totally Airwolf in my book. Also, Ernest Borgnine is now running the turnstyle at your mother's house.

Techy Goodness

Escher and the Droste Effect

Hey Fernando, check out what a bunch of mathematicians did when they got tired of just bugging out at Escher's stills. Pretty amazing. And I think if you stop the animation somewhere in the middle of the loop you can see your mom getting it from multiple angles and dimensions. So, all in all, pretty realistic.

3D Uber-tool

Also, I learned today that Autodesk (the makers of 3D Studio Max) have purchased Alias (the makers of Maya 3D). Soon, I imagine we can look forward to one giant 3D Uber-tool. At which point your mother will probably eat it.

Thanks to your moms everywhere

A big thank you to mothers everywhere for enduring such harmless ridicule as the allmighty mom-joke is want to do. We love you all...long time.

Seriously...consider this a social experiment to see if we can wax politically, muse about evolving social morays, or banter about the human condition while simultaneously keeping one foot firmly planted in juvenile humor.

Ok, have at it. Like I had at your mom.
